SCS-36-PS-4, bisect of tobosa. The maximum working depth is at 30-32 inches with many roots below this in the gypsum layer. The upper 12 inches of roots are fibrous, coarse organs utilized chiefly for storage and conduction rather than absorption. From 12 to 30 inches the roots are muchly branched and are more numerous for this reason. This is the region of absorption. Original Photo Number 322304.
