land imprinter in pasture 6
A pitter that was used experimentally for possible range improvements (creating small divots where water may collect and native seeds already present in the soil may germinate and grow) some time in the 1970s. You can still see the evidence of this treatment (or ones like it) in satellite images of the Jornada on the south end in pasture 6. This may have been done in concert with NASA to test visibility of land treatments from the newly launched earth observation satellites of that era (what have been termed land sat).
