Plant soil correlation study number 2, plants, the vegetation consists of 30 percent Aristida fendlariana, 10 percent Aristida divaricata, 43 percent Yucca elata, 2 percent Bouteloua eriopoda, and 2 percent Sporobolus flexuosus. The average density is .15 and the forage acre factor is .02. The soil is deep sandy loam. It has a horizon of medium compaction between the one and two foot levels below the normal surface and a well expressed zone of lime concentration underlying the horizon of maximum compaction and ranging to an average depth of 5 feet. The substratum consists of fine sand and the caliche layer of an old buried soil occurs at 11 feet. The slope gradient is 2.5 percent, micro-relief is dominated by active wind erosion which ranges from slight to severe. Low hummocks to 8 inches in height and small denudation flats in which the semi-herdpan is exposed to produce a total relief difference of approximately 1 foot. Original photo number 148.
