Caption | Yucca elata grows in deep loamy sands and sand loams. This species is commonly associated with the black grama climax or is a relic of former grasslands. Where caliche is shallower than 2 feet this does not occur. Observations at Jornada Experimental Station indicate that it increases in height about one inch per year. This species occasionally attains a height of 50 feet. Original photo number 140. |
