Grama forage study pasture, a good black grama (Bouteloua eriopoda) range which has been properly utilized. About 55 percent of the volume (weight) of black grama and 52 percent of the dropseed grasses (Sporobolus spp.) have been grazed. This pasture of 160 acres produced in 1937 about 10 tons of black grama herbage and 4 tons of other perennial grass herbage. The above percentage figures represent the amount of this total herbage that was grazed. About 75 percent of all black grama stems are grazed down to about 2 inches. Original Photo Number 363206.
