Caption Mesquite sandhill artificial revegetation enclosure, dense growth of annual weeds on sandy mesquite range that has been closed to grazing for 3.5 years. Most of the plants in this area are Franseria acanthicarpa, some of them dead plants of the 1936 season and some living plants of the 1937 season. Such weed litter offers a favorable site for germination and growth of chamiza plants, dropseed grasses, and other perennials. Wind erosion is negligible on such sites. Original Photo Number 356018.
