Caption About 1.5 miles south of Jornada Experimental Range, just west of Jornada Road, this was originally the same vegetation type shown in photo number 333015 but through continued overstocking, the tobosa grass has been killed. The remaining plants are black brush (Flourensia cernua) and annual weeds. The lack of a grass cover has allowed sheet erosion to proceed and much of the top soil has been removed. Remnants of the top soil remains around the base of the black brush plants. Original Photo Number 333016.
